Computer Assisted Education and Information
Technology Centre in Warsaw (OEIiZK)
Computer Assisted Education and Information Technology
Centre is in-service teachers training institution specialized in computer
science and ICT. It provides support for teachers in their professional development as far as computer skills and didactic applications of information technology are concerned.
Teacher training activities are based on creative work which covers introducing, developing and implementing new:
- teaching methods
- syllabi
- didactic aids
- methodology publications
- computer based tools for learning and teaching
We co-operate with researchers from universities who work on topics of mutual interest. We constantly get feedback from schools and teachers, who we work for. Since the beginning in 1991 we have always been in the centerof events which were essential for computer assisted education and educational applications of information technology. The Centre is the leading organization in this area.
Our staff consists of more than twenty highly
qualified specialists. They are professionals in computer assisted education.
Success in teacher training which is constantly reported is based on their
research, completed and implemented projects and publications.
International co-operation
ICT for IST
The project Information
and Communication Technology for Innovative Science Teachers is build up on the
results of IT for US project. The training innovations will be made applicable
to a wider audience of teachers and teacher trainers through several strands of
activity:
- Didactic materials will be made available in more languages.
- The material focus on the use of both Coach 6 and Insight packages and will be augmented with additional ideas for software solutions including simulations, interactive investigations and a range of free software.
- Expanded online access will be made available through an existing learning object repository.
- More ideas for implementation strategies will be developed through a series of teacher training activities.
- Different approaches to teacher training will be supported by the development of exemplary instructional material, online resources and demonstration videos.
The project started in 2009 as co – operation of
the partners: AMSTEL - Amsterdam Mathematics Science Technology Education
Laboratory, University of Amsterdam; Department of Educational Sciences,
University of Cyprus; Department of Design and Technology, Loughborough
University; Faculty of Informatics and Physics, Charles University in Prague;
KPH, University College of Teacher Education Vienna/Krems

IT for US
The project Information
Technology for Understanding Science aims to design a modular in-service
training course for science teachers and to create the supporting courseware
materials. The materials for teacher training exemplify innovative pedagogy which
exploits the unique qualities of IT. The focus is on four types of software
application related to practical science featuring constructivist approach:
data-logging, video measurement, modeling and simulation.
The project started in
2005 as co - operation the partners: AMSTEL - Amsterdam Mathematics Science
Technology Education Laboratory, University of Amsterdam; FCTUNL - College of
Sciences and Technology, New University of Lisbon; University of Leicester -
School of Education; UCY - University of Cyprus, Department of Educational
Science; Pedagogical University of Cracow - Chair of Computer Science.
Our Centre is a
coordinator of the project. The project is supported by Socrates Comenius
(Action 2.1. Training of School Education Staff)

IDWBL
The project Innovative
Didactics via Web Based Learning is a multinational cooperation between teacher
trainers and researchers from Bulgaria, Lithuania, The Netherlands, Poland and
the Slovak Republic. The project is aimed at developing course materials, which
can be applied by teacher trainers to prepare student-teachers (or in-service
teachers) regarding the use of WWW in education. The second goal is to store
course materials in an international data base. Project ended in December 2006.

MatComp
In september 2000 we have
launched international project MatComp - ICT in learning and teaching
mathematics. Our Centre is a coordinator of the project. There are also
partners from Slovakia and United Kingdom involved. The project lasted 3 years
and was supported by Socrates Comenius.

WWWtrain
Training to Use WWW in
Education Project started in 2000 as a co-operation of teacher trainers and WWW
experts from Czech Republic, Hungary, the Netherlands and Poland togather with
experts from the European Schoolnet. The main focus of the project was to
develop courses to train teachers to use WWW in education.

CoLabs
We take part in Minerva
project guided by Márta Turcsányi-Szabó form Eötvös Loránd University,
Informatics Methodology Group.
Objectives of the project:
Our major challenge is to
find ways to support children in building and testing models collaboratively across
European cultures and beyond. Our objectives are to provide infrastructure for
collaborative work; to provide answers for guiding research questions: with
whom, how and what kinds of knowledge should children learn at a distance and
how best can they be supported in this learning; and to develop learning tools
that can be transferable into other domains using the Imagine authoring system.

IITE UNESCO
Our Centre is a national
focal point of UNESCO Institute for Information Technologies in Education
(IITE). The mission of the UNESCO Institute for Information Technologies in
Education is to strengthen the national capacities of UNESCO Member States for
applying ICTs in education.
While accomplishing this
mission during the period of the first IITE Medium-Term Strategy (2002-2007),
the Institute will assist UNESCO Member States in providing the following: an
effective educational strategy, overcoming the digital knowledge divide between
developing and developed countries and within them, and the creation of
necessary conditions for their full value participation in the development of
the evolving information society.
Schoolnet
In 2000 our portal for
teachers - Edukus (www.oeiizk.edu.pl) together with Ministry of National
Education and Sport were the polish partners of Schoolnet (www.eun.org). Now
such a partner is Interkl@sa (www.interklasa.pl).
We are involved in
preparing polish translation of materials from: Virtual School,
School Managers Centre
School Managers Centre
ICTime
Project ICTime - ICT as a
tool of intercultural and media education aims at supporting teachers, teacher
educators and students in the use of ICT in intercultural and media education.
Within the project two
photo contests for school children were organised and very well attended among
young people all over Europe. The team of teacher trainers form Latvia, Poland,
Portugal and Romania has prepared a course for teachers, piloted and
implemented in the participating countries.
